Emily Nestor

Bio
Emily Nestor (she/her) is an emerging artist and curator residing on Treaty Four. Both artistically and curatorially, she is driven by an interest in the intersections of care and labour and the act of remembering and archiving, as it relates to notions of legacy and knowledge in the realms of domesticity, familial ties, and rurality. Her interests are derived largely from her upbringing in rural Saskatchewan. Nestor complicates the relationship between care and labour in relation to the performance of heteronormative femininity, navigating how women's labour is intrinsically tied to community building in rural areas. Through this, Nestor considers inherited familial rituals and labour as a means to situate the domestic archive within broader understanding of queerness, community, labour, and legacy. Nestor has had the pleasure of serving in numerous positions across Regina’s art community, including roles with Neutral Ground Artist-Run Centre, Queer City Cinema, Nuit Blanche Regina, Art Gallery of Regina, Fifth Parallel Gallery, University of Regina, and the Dunlop Art Gallery. She is a graduate of the University of Regina, receiving a BFA with Great Distinction in Visual Art and a BA Honours with High Honours in Art History in 2022.
